About the Artist
Mansheng Wang 王滿晟
Mansheng Wang (王滿晟) was born in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China. Following graduation in 1985 from the Chinese Department of Shanghai’s Fudan University, where he majored in Chinese classical literature, he worked for over a decade as an editor, director and producer at China Central Television in Beijing.
Wang has devoted himself full time to painting and calligraphy since his move to New York in 1996. Influenced by his training and interest in the Chinese classics, his paintings often reflect on the landscapes and images of China’s past. Wang’s calligraphy and paintings have been shown worldwide, including in exhibitions in China, Japan, Hong Kong, Europe and the United States.
His work is held in collections including the Baltimore Museum of Art; Brooklyn Museum; Princeton University Art Museum; Yale University Art Gallery; Philadelphia Museum of Art; The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens; and Shanxi Museum. Mansheng Wang resides with his family in the Hudson River valley, outside of New York City.
王满晟，又名搬生，班生，半升。
一九六二年十二月生于山西省太原市。
一九八五年毕业于复旦大学中文系。
一九八五年至一九九六年在中央电视台担任编导及制片人，制作各类艺术文化节目。
一九九六年移居美国后不久转成职业画家。
二零零九年至2020年任佳士得纽约中国艺术部顾问。
从上世纪九十年代初至今，在中国，美国，日本，香港，以及欧洲数国舉辦展览。并在博物馆，大学及文化艺术中心举办示范讲座。
作品被普林斯顿大学艺术博物馆, 耶鲁艺术画廊, 布鲁克林博物馆, 巴尔蒂摩艺术博物馆, 费城艺术博物馆, 美国加州汉庭顿图书馆, , 山西博物院等机构及许多私人藏家所收藏。
现居纽约哈德逊河谷。
